What is ferulic acid？

Ferulsyra is an antioxidant compound found in plant cells. Manufacturers add it to certain skin care products to help reduce inflammation, signs of aging, and even the skin’s tone. Experts generally consider ferulic acid a safe skincare ingredient.

What is it derived from?

(4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid, FA), a hydroxycinnamic acid derived from various seeds, nuts, leaves, and fruits, exists in a free form as well as is covalently conjugated with polysaccharides, glycoproteins, polyamines, lignin, and hydroxy fatty acids of plant cell walls.

How to dissolve ce ferulic acid powder?

It dissolves in propylene glycol, ethoxydiglycol, dimethyl isosorbide, ethanol, or vodka. It is insoluble in water at room temperature. It is soluble in hot water (140F/60C) but it may become crystallized.

How to use it?

Use products with it as you normally would use an antioxidant serum. That’s to say, apply to your entire face (neck and hands, too, if you’re concerned about aging skin in those areas). Use in the morning after cleansing your face.

Is it stable in water?

It’s wide application in skincare and cosmetic products has been limited by it is poor solubility and stability. It is poorly soluble in water (soluble in alkaline pH only).

Does it whiten skin?
